Windows 10 compabability

I am trying to see if the programs and hardware (printers, scanner etc.) will work on my W7 pro 64bit PC if I move to W10.
I have clicked on the newly appeared icon 'get windows 10' but all I get is a blank box with a timer in it. I have left this running for an hour but nothing appears. I am looking for a 'Check your PC' option.
I have right clicked on the icon to 'Learn about Windows 10' but this directs me to the Windows help page with FAQ that don't work.
Am I missing something or is my PC broken?

I don't have access to the icon at the moment, but when you open that dialog, isn't there a menu button in the top-left, that has various options in it? Including something like "Check my PC"?

Get W10.jpg When I click on the 'Get Windows 10' icon is a totally blank window, no menus or anything except a rotating timer, a title box (Get Windows 10) and a X to close the box.

Thanks for the link WhoX but this link just seems to send me info on how to change to Windows 10. I certainly would not want to change if I can't use all my current programs etc.

Most software that runs on Windows 7 will run on Windows 10. As far as hardware is concerned, you should check out the hardware manufacturer's websites for compatibility with Windows 10. Look for updated drivers.

What specific hardware are you concerned about?

He's not concerned about hardware.

I have two printers : Canon i9950, HP 950c, a CanoScan 4200F scanner. I used Virtual XP to run a very old genealogy program (it has over 1200 names with data and pictures). I use CS2 Photoshop and several other programs. I also network with other PCs that are running on W7. I would not want to loose these programs and devices.

Well, I have just had a look to see if there are drivers for my old printers and scanner for Windows 10, and it seems that at the moment there are NO update drivers for these 3 items. Looks as if Windows 10 is not for me at the moment.
Does anyone know if you can run virtual XP and/or Virtual W7 within Windows 10?

I have Photoshop CS2 and it works on Windows 10. By-the-way, Adobe posted the full CS2 Creative Suite along with the software keys to download here. You have to have an Adobe account and tick a box to agree to their terms before downloading.

Windows XP Mode won't install on Windows 10. A message pops up saying that it will only install on Windows 7.

You can get the drivers for the HP 950c below.

XP Mode has always only been usable on Win 7 Pro, Ultimate or Enterprise. It doesn't work on Win 8 or 10.

Win 10 comes with Hyper-V or you can install something like VMWare Player and then create your own XP VM as long as you have a XP install disk and a product key for it.
