I built a computer a couple of months back,I bought the retail copy of windows 7 pro. (it comes with a 32-bit disk and a 64-bit disk)
I installed the 32 bit thinking it would be fine but now I want to upgrade my ram to 8gb, so I will need to install 64-bit.
I have the one Product key, will I be able to install 64-bit with this key??
Can someone please tell me how to do so, as I have never had to reinstall an OS, so yeh back up the files to a external HDD and then what??

My parts are
Case:: Corsair 600t
Hard drive:: Samsung 1tb
Blue ray disk drive:: LG super multi blue.
Graphics card:: PNY Nvidia Geforce gts 450
CPU:: Intel i5 760
Mobo:: Asus P7P55D-E PRO
Ram:: RipJaw G-Skill ddr3 2 2gb sticks
Psu:: corsair HX650W

Yes, you can use the same key.

Back up your data to an external. Once you're done, you just boot to the 64-bit and format the drive like you did when you first installed it.

Who the hell needs 8 GB of RAM lol?

Unless if you are performing many video conversions like crazy lol...
But then again...who the hell does that xD

i dont think it really matters at this point. seems as though he already has the RAM, whether its necessary or not is up to the user.

question has been answered, id say that successful thread is successful
