just tried to install win7 64 bit and its giving me a
' recent hardware change may have caused this problem message' and will not let me continue to install
comp is using amd 64 x2 4000 and the m2n-mx se asus mobo and the disc is fine the same happens on win xp 64 bit

there is only a tv card connected internally and nothing else is it worth detaching that?

what could be causing this problem? any thoughts?

Yes, disconnect any hardware not required to run the machine and then try reinstalling.

if you had the operating system working before and changed the motherboard or video card that could disable the key.
If you changed anything you can call support at microsoft and explain what happened. ive done it. they just disable the key and give me another new one. then back up.

its on my girlfriends dads comp which i have now set up on 32 bit, as 64 bit wasnt esseential it was a fresh install btw, it just seemed strange the tv card was the prob will try it in the future if he decides to intsall again. If it was mee i d try right now lol, but i dont think he really minds :)

its also worth noting that it is working perfectly, with all aero funtions switched on, with 1 gig of ram and a geforce 6150 (128 MB).
