Windows 7 64bit and Memory

I just installed Windows 7 64bit edition. I have 4GB of RAM. However, Windows still tells me that only 3.12GB is usable. How disappointing seeing that I now expected that all 4GB would be usable. Is this this case with everyone?

Also, how much better performing is this version?

NVM just learned that the chipset on the motherboard does not support memory remapping over 4gb. I have the 8800GTS 640 so that is the main reason for the memory allocation.

Anyway will I still get increased performance with 64Bit?

with 4 gig and 32 windows i would not worry about it. unless you multitask several programs or a extreme gamer. wait for a new system and just get 7 pro or ultimate 64.

Problem is tho is that as it is 64bit already it should have noticed that 4gb is there and usable.

you could try to check 1 stick at a time and see if both have 2Gb usable.
Assuming you have 2x2GB sticks of course.

your right. i missed it. im guessing if it was a upgrade then it was not installed properly.
