Windows 7 and Skype [My rage]

Okay, seriously. I just buy this low-end system with a dual core so that at least while I'm saving for my ridiculously big system I can not slit my wrists. I fire it up and download skype today. Log in and sit there... Where's the freakin sound?!?!?!?

Okay, to clarify. I can hear the hum of the login to skype, the stupid call noises, and even the other person, but just barely for all things here. Now the stupidest thing about this is that all of my other sounds, WMP, system dings, etc. are correct volume level. This is a skype-only issue. I've checked every freakin setting and option in Skype I can find. I disabled the Windows 7 prompt to reduce volume to 80% when making VOIP calls w/e. I don't know what's wrong! I even completely uninstalled my Realtek High Definition Audio driver, reinstalled it to the most updated driver. I've updated Direct X. I've uninstalled Skype and reinstalled it. I've uninstalled and installed Skype Beta. Everything is the exact same. It's enought to make me want to chuck the HP slimline peace of crap out the window because Skype is the main reason I wanted to upgrade my old Dellnosaur in the first place!

So please CF. You all use W7. Please advise before I have a seizure.

Kindly,
Timmeh

The modern philosophy of life and all that is in it derives from a culture based on the subadequate perception of life that everything can be texted, e-mailed, or googled; forgetting that sometimes walking into the room next door and saying hello is far more effective than any other type of media available to communicate...

Anywho, Windows 7 is quite confusing when it comes to sound. I haven't used Skype with it yet, but you could check the volume control panel next to the clock. I know there are a lot of weird volume bars down there. Personally, they annoy the hell outta me. Couldn't they keep it simple?

P.S. Your avatar just made me hungry for KFC.

Yeah everything is maxed. I'm going to go by a USB headphone set and pray that it's just the soundcard jacks and not a true software issue. So, we'll see.

System sounds OK? Hmm, well the Win7 Volume Control has controls for programs, not general channels, which I find great. Play around some more with the settings, there should be no reason why it's not loud enough except for the application's channel.

I think they were going to shit. Everything started becoming a bit distorted and quieter as the next day after I posted this went on. I plugged in some USB headphones and everything sounds crystal clear. Very well could have been the stereo jacks on the sound card, I dunno. Won't be using them now.
