Hi,
i have a problem with my dell xps 1530 laptop which i recently upgraded to windows 7. It has intel core 2 duo, nvidia gforce 8600m or something like that i think and 3 gb of ram.
All the problems started with the internet connection. i shut the lid of my computer which put it to sleep, then opened it, and couldnt connect to the internet. so i though by restarting it, i would be able to, so i did. It turned of normal, but when it came to turning back on it didnt.
it would show the normal loading screen, then i would get a black screen, with the curser in the middle of the screen which is movable.
I tried starting in safemode and get the same result. I also tried using startup repair to see if it would fic the problem, but it doesnt. i cant even load from restore points.
Ive done some research and i think it could be cause with a bad windows update, it was working fine for about a month.

thanks :good:

I have had the same problem with an Acer laptop. Turns out it was because of a USB mouse I had plugged in. Make sure nothing is plugged into the laptop at all.

I've tried the startup repair off the cd and that didnt help, im thinking i might have to do a fresh install but would really like to try fix it, i found the startup repair log if it is of any use.
