Windows 7 Installation problems??

About 2 weeks or so ago, I did a clean install from Windows 32 bit Vista Home Premium SP2 to Windows 32 bit 7 Professional on my Acer laptop. Before the install, I had no problems. No glitches and relatively good speed (for my cheap laptop.) The only reason I installed is because I got a hold of a genuine Win 7 Prof. disk for $25, so I figured, why not!?

Since the install, i've noticed that:

1.) My computer won't resume from sleep mode. It sounds like it starts up, but nothing but a black screen shows up on my monitor. I end up having to press the power button to shut down my laptop. I researched a bit and only option I found that helped a few people was to update the Graphic Drivers. Did that, still won't resume. I saw another option that said run a powercfg -ENERGY. I also did that and the report showed my processor was running high when running Google Chrome, but nothing else. I don't think my browser has anything to do with it..

2.) At first, my laptop was faster than it had ever been. Booting up in about 15 seconds, loading pages very very fast. I was amazed at the difference. But now, my download speed has dropped from 4000kbps all the way to about 800kbps. My sessions are being timed out, pages are loading in minutes rather than seconds, its bad news.

The ONLY programs I have installed on this laptop so far are: Google Chrome, iTunes (no music as of yet) Microsoft Security Essentials, and Skype. I've scanned each program with MSE, and found no traces of Malware, Trojans, etc.. I haven't switched any plans with my ISP since installing.

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor TF-20 1.60 Ghz.
RAM: 2.00 GB (1.75 GB usable)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what to tell you but I would try something like opening a command window and entering "sfc /scannow" (no quotes) to check the system files.

Have you tried doing a system restore to an earlier point in time?

If those suggestions don't help then, since you haven't installed much yet, I would try re-installing and starting over again.

Tried a system restore, still nothing. I'll try that command and let you know what happens. Is there a to reinstall and use the same keygen? I would hate to have to pay for another.

Boot to the 7 dvd and choose to repair the OS and see if that fixes it. Other than that, its possible you don't have the right drivers installed for your hardware.
