windows 7 pro 64 bit question and email thunderbird

Im jumping through hoops with this. Example was Firefox and all the pluggins. did not work. (figured it out).

Next, and can't figure out. Thunderbird. can not get it to work for the life of me. I set it up. have all the ports right. password is correct. Can access from the internet just fine. Called att - Uverse. said no problem. They can't help with this program. turned off Windows firefwall, Turned off Kerpersky internet Security and installed a beta ThunderBird ver 3.
It will not work.....period. just says wrong password or username.

Any ideas . im at the end of my wits now. the Thunderbird Beta is 64 bit.
tried the other 32 bit. DONT MAKE NO DIFF............

I'm in the same boat. The last two times I've installed Thunderbird, could not get it to connect no matter what settings I tried, and I havent been doing this since yesterday:P. I just give up and said screw it. All other ones work just fine.
 
I got it installed ok. Finally. i tried unzipping the file from mozbackup and loading them manually. copy and paste. that did not work. what i did was uninstalled and deleted the directory thunderbird in program files. went to start run and typed %appdata% and deleted all occurrences of thunderbird.
installed the latest ver (not the 64 bit beta). ran mozbackup again.
I rebooted 1st. did not start the program. ran thunderbird and BAM!

love it when a program comes together. i hate it when they say no.
oh well.
