windows 7 pro and difference between sync and briefcase

Just looking for a simple explanation.
Sync works and brief case does sync.
Whats different? Just don't know the diff.

When would I use Briefcase instead of Sync Center?

Briefcase is included in this version of Windows for people who have used it in earlier versions of Windows and want to continue using it to sync their files. Use Briefcase if you need to keep files in sync between two computers. Use Sync Center if you want to keep files in sync between a computer and a mobile device or folder on a network server.
 
i had the impression sync will duplicate on one drive then the other and if something is deleted it gets deleted on the other. Am i correct. Its just my backup only. Just need easier organization and easier way. Ive always been old school. Yes i have a problem with change and don't like it. Its always been copy and paste and figure it out what needs to be copied.
