Got a problem. i will fix it though. Had about 6mo or so. payed $200.00 Windows 7 Pro and running 64 bit. I will get into this problem but thought i would ask anyway. also see it running for $149.00 now.

'This computer not running genuine windows'.

Been running fine for months. running Kaspersky internet security right now.
as far as i got. love an adventure though. any thoughts?

I've seen malware infections that cause that message to come up. Have you ran Malwarebytes or Superantispyware on it?

Ok........i will follow up with that. On the other hand i was searching at google and visiting a few sites. it was news only. looking for information. Kaspersky finished the scan and said something about the post i made as suspicious. i will follow up but tired. its hot. working outside. thanks............
i will let ya know.

Might have a point there. i said that because earlier i did do an update critical rebooted and blew it off. went back to update.microsoft and did say windows is up to date. there are no updates available. before it was saying i needed to validate my copy.

thanks.
if it changes after more follow up i will let ya know.

There are third party patches (basically hacks) available that will remove the watermark, but, before doing that, you want to make sure M$ recognizes your copy as genuine. If you're unable to retrieve updates or they label your copy illegitimate, that's obviously a problem. Has it reverted to reduced functionality mode yet?

i went to control panel, system security, system and looked at specs on computer and the key. key is not right. click on change key and nothing happens. tried rebooting in safe mode. nothing happens. researched at support microsoft but can not find anyplace that will answer my question. where else can i change this key with out getting into another big mess and new installation.
thanks

As far as I know there is no reduced functionality mode. Your system should work 100%, only with an annoying popup.

that may be right too. i think i found the problem. the cmos battery. i looked and went back to 2006 and about 5hrs off. its changed. always kept a few laying around. CR2032 seems to be pretty much a standard. any rate its work the way is should be. i think....
