windows 7 problem

Since my son got a new computer with Win7, he has been having trouble with getting online. Also, being spontaniously disconnected from online.

Is there some kind of incompatibility between Win7 and internet explorer?

We have 3 computers connected to the same router, using Verizon's DSL and the Yahoo browser and the other 2 are working fine.

Thoughts?

Most likely your using wireless to connect this pc? Try updating your wireless drivers or changing the security on the router.

We are connected with an Ethernet cable to a router.

What happens is very often, not every time, when he tries to sign on, it won't connect. He gets a message that IE cannot connect to this web page....or some such wording.

Also sometimes when he is online, he is suddenly disconnected from the internet.

The only thing new here is his computer which has Win7, so I was just wondering if it was a common probllem with W7.

Then start by updating the lan driver and if that don't solve it, look into the router.

I havent' had that specific problem - but Windows 7 comes with ie8 and My experience with win 8 was that I froze online more than was normal.

I switched to firefox mozilla browser and haven't had any problems since. You might try that and see if it solves your problem. You could also check your cables if that doesn't do the trick.

update the lan driver, check for internet explorer updates, and try other browsers. mozilla is fine but i personally like google chrome A LOT more than either ie or mozilla. awesome features. are you using ie 7 or 8?

OK guys, thanks a lot for the advice.

Don loaded some kind of update yesterday and he says that it is working better.

On that Google Chrome; I have my older computer in the family room just so it is a little handier than going upstairs to access the newer one, and it was running very slow with IE. It is an older E Machines, 1 gig processor with 256 mg of ram, so I loaded that Google Chrome and it now runs about twice as fast online as it did with IE.

I also use firefox for some things because at least one of the sites that I need to access won't do business with IE/Yahoo. Something about security.

Thanks again....
