Windows 7 problems

Hey,
so I've recently installed windows 7 on my computer. Since it doesn't allow you to upgrade from windows xp, i did a clean install on a new hard drive from within xp (the disk I burnt from the ultimate steal offer wouldn't work properly). It all installed, I've activated windows 7 and installed all my programs. Now I've noticed that if I remove the hard drive with xp on it...windows 7 won't boot. It tells me to boot from the proper boot device. How do i fix that problem? I want to get rid of the xp partition off the hard drive and use it as storage. I have read that it requires me to make a new boot sector or something to that effect bt I don't understand how. Thanks.

Answer me on these questions:

-Do you have just one hard disk drive in your computer or more?
-Have you deleted and created new partitions from the Windows 7 installation environment or are those partitions created from before?

I have 2. One of which has xp and the other windows 7. The partitions were created before. I couldn't get the burnt disk to work and you need to boot through the disk in order to create/delete partitions.

Let's not complicate...Do this:

-Turn off your computer...
-Remove the HDD which contains XP from your computer, but the one that has Windows 7 leave in...
-Turn on your computer,go in your BIOS and set your CD/DVD-ROM drive to be the first device to boot from and the HDD to be the second device to boot from...
-Now open your CD/DVD-ROM drive tray, put in the Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk and close the tray. Now save the changes in your BIOS and restart the computer by of course using the BIOS options.Usually they are under the tab called "Exit"...
-After your computer has restarted, your Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk will boot automatically...
-After the Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk has completely booted up,when you get to the screen with the partitions, delete them ALL,create the new one, format it and then install Windows 7 on it...

If now Windows 7 works properly, feel free to put your XP HDD back into your computer.Next time if you want to use Windows XP instead of the Windows 7,simply go in the BIOS and set THAT XP HDD to be above the HDD which contains Windows 7 on it.Same for Windows 7...

Cheers!

Elantos,

You should be able to remove the hard drive with Windows XP, boot from the Windows 7 DVD and run a Windows repair. This should repair the boot process.
