hey i'm considering getting the Windows 7 Release Candidate and before i install it onto my desktop i'm wanting to try it on my laptop

my laptop is a fairly old one its a
HP Compaq Presario C300
RAM: 1GB
CPU: Intel Celeron 1.60Ghz
Display: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family (it displays this twice in my device manager no idea why)

ummm and i'm hoping that's all the info u guys need haha

but my question is, with windows 7 on this system will it be adequate? And will it run well enoguh that i will be able to get a feel for what windows 7 is like?

thanks in advance

You might experience some problems with Win 7 with that configuration. Windows 7 will run, but it will be slow and sluggish. U might have to disable some of the graphical animations.

The least u can do is upgrade ur RAM, It will make things easier. 2 GB will be sufficient.

i installed windows 7 on my brothers latitude d400 laptop:
Pentium M 1.4ghz, 1gb ram, intel 855gm chipset.
it works very nice, he says it's faster than xp :) but he did have to go hunting for drivers. he might have aero dissabled, but i'm not sure.

Windows 7 will run fine on that system, but if your Graphics aren't up to the task, Aero will shut itself OFF, and then you'll miss out on some of the experience.

i went ahead and installed it works a treat =D
