Windows 7 setup....Problem

Okay guys,

I have the Windows 7 X64 BETA disk and tried to install to my machine today and im going nowhere.

when i try to install it i get.

press any key to boot from cd or DVD....done that

then get setup is loading files.....thats done

then i get the flashing windows 7 logo and that says "Starting windows"
and then nothing happens....the system just stays there on that blue screen and nothing installs...teh hard drive activity light goes out like its doing nothing.

Its NOT a bad disk,i have installed this exact copy on my machine before and install went fine no problems at all,also i recently installed it on Virtualbox and that also installed fine.

it just for some reason wont install to my system again this time.

ive even reset my BIOS just incase that was causing any problems and still nothing.

whats going on?

Yes i have Vista installed to that drive but was going to format that away during the Windows 7 install.

My drive is detected in BIOS,And im running off it now so surely its detected.

Like i said ive installed it on my system before with no problems but this time its a no-no :cool:
 
Your not trying to install 7 on the drive with vista still on are you. 2 OS's can not be on the same drive at the same time. Try partitioning the drive again and then try it. Sometimes format just doesn't cut it, un-partition, then partition and format, that might work.
 
So you're trying to upgrade your Vista to 7? I wouldn't recommend that, as when it expires you'd be screwed (Data loss because you couldn't get back on 7 + no other os to boot from) That's why I dual boot it. (As long as you set the account as an admin through vista you can access your old files) - Can you boot to Vista now?
 
ok, for a start, upgrading to windows 7 from vista:

There is a chance that the disk you burned didn't go properly. If you have either cheap dvd's or just by an unlucky coincidence 1 naf one then it may not have written properly. Try reburning and trying again. I know you said it isn't the disk but sometimes the different drive can be unable to read it. It sounds crazy i know but i have had it before where the copy of vista 64 i have wouldn't work on my step dad's system when i had to format and reinstall on his, so we had to make a copy of the disk and then it worked.

It could ofcourse always be the dvd drive itself having a problem reading it for some reason.

It will not freeze your system when it expires. I will be like all other windows operating systems, if during install you don't put your key in you must do it within 30 days of install. If you don't then it "locks" it, meaning you can remove files but not create or edit any, so you can back up when the beta expires you will probably get a scenario similar to that one, and then format+reinstall xp or vista, whichever you had before, or your shiny new copy of windows 7 if you choose to buy it

I don't mean when if you don't enter a key, I mean when the beta itself expires. Here's another quote from the TOS.

I know that you mean if you don't enter a key, i said that it is like if you don't enter a key on the others. If you are right about it though then sorry i disagreed but that would be a huuuuuuge screw up by microsoft :P

they could just do as they are already with the other OS with the key thing when the beta expires. Who wants a system that you can't change files with?
 
no no no...guys what im gonna do is.

Insert the 7 disk....when it asks me which drive to install to i will format my 250gb drive which currently has vista on and install 7 fresh to that!

But it seems it just doesnt want to for some reason.

But it doesnt even get to that stage,where i can choose to which driev to install too!
 
okay i managed to get 7 to install but only via popping in the disk while running vista and up-dating windows that way...and i shouldnt of bothred.

It runs like a snail.....i dont know whats up with my rig but somethings not right.

i just dont get it,a few weeks ago i could install 7 normaly,it booted and ran great but not this time.
