it seys closing background programes when it should shutdown with out that coming up how can i fix it
That's what it's supposed to do. If you don't want to wait on Windows to close all of your programs for you on shutdown, then you should manually exit, close or otherwise terminate all open applications and non-windows based processes before shutting down the computer.
If what you mean is that it
hangs on shutdown, then that's another issue. You would have to first find what process is not terminating. You can hit ctrl+alt+delete to bring up the task manager, and look at the applications tab. If that tab is empty, then you should look at the processes tab and look for anything that has high "mem usage" or says "not responding"
I would suggest that you disable all processes from starting up automatically that you do not need.
To do this, go to Start-->Run-->type in 'msconfig' and hit <enter>
In the Startup tab, uncheck everything that you do not need running in the background at startup and click "Apply." Then, in the Services tab,
check Hide All Microsoft Services, uncheck everything that you do not need running in the background at startup and click "Apply." Restart the computer.
Be forewarned that you may need certain programs to run at startup, especially display drivers, etc. If you do not feel comfortable removing startup entries on your own, please do the following:
Download the HijackThis executable from here:
http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ (executable is on the right).
Run HijackThis! and press the button labeled "Open the Misc Tools Section". Then check both the check boxes next to the "Generate StartupList Log" button and click the button. Click the button to generate the list, save it and upload it as an attachment to your next post, and I or some other forum member will advise you on what to disable.
Hope that answers your question.

If you just want to turn off the computer without waiting for Windows to terminate processes, just push in the power button on the front of the case and hold it until the computer turns off. If that doesn't work, just unplug the son of a b!t<h. I
DO NOT recommend either of these methods, but sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do.
