Windows 7 slow Downloads

I have no idea but ever since I reformatted my computer to Windows 7 from XP, my downloads have been really slow. I have the same internet connection which is verizon fios. I used to download at 1-2mb a sec. Now it's down to 100-200 kb/sec. I went to speakeasy.net and the download was above 15mb+. And I'm sure my computer's good enough for windows 7 and to get the same download speed as before. Any idea why my downloads are slow?

what/where are you trying to download?

if speakeasy measures your downstream bandwidth correctly at 15mb, then the problem could not be with your machine; you could still try updating your network drivers.

Try scanning your PC for viruses. Sometimes that causes it to slow down. You might think that you are not infected but still, give it a try. :) I have XP on my old PC and on my new one i have Win7 and the speed is same on both PC's.

Download videos from like warcraftmovies.com and etc. Anywhere I download its slow. And before anywhere i downeded from it was like 500kb+ usually 1mb downloads.

Outdated/incorrect lan or wireless drivers maybe?

Run windows update. download any important/recommended updates.

also download, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

I thought my computer was clean 3 days after a reformat. malwarebytes detected 1 infection. :o
