Hey everyone. I just received my parts for new computer...and purchased windows 7 upgrade...didn't notice till I got home. Is there a way to instal windows 7 home premium upgrade on a barebone system with no current operating system?

thanks!

Yes, it can be done. Google "clean install of win 7 using upgrade media". To be legal, you must own a copy of XP or Vista to be eligible for the upgrade.

Thanks for the response...however...I don't own a copy of either. Do I need one when installing or something? I don't even know where to get one of those

No you can't do it without having any operating system on the computer. That's why it is called UPGRADE lol.
Just give that disk back to them and buy a full version not the upgrade one.

Why do people even buy upgrades lol...that sucks.I would rather buy the full one I can use to reinstall Windows OS whenever I want.
