Windows 7 Video Graphics

I installed Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 2400. I can change the resolution on the screen to 1024 x 768 but when the do the images are blurred along with the icons. I think there is an integrated vga driver on the motherboard. Do i need to install a new PCI Graphics card for this desktop or is possible to get drivers that will resolve the problem.

If the Motherboard has a AGP slot, then you would want a good quality AGP Video card. I googled the specs, and Dell did not list that Motherboard as having a AGP slot, so not really sure what you got.

My impression of the specifications of the Computer is it won't really handle Windows 7 very well. I probably would stick with Windows XP on that type Hardware.

The new Windows Operating systems like Vista and 7 need a lot of Ram, Good quality Video Cards, and at least a Dual or Quad Multicore CPU.

I downloaded Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP (exe) from the Intel site. I ran this in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and its works a charm now. I can now choose from 8 resolutions instead of 1 previously.

Can you link it? I have a Dell D 2400, and Windows 7 was said and proven to be incompatible with the GPU, and I've torn my hair out trying to get it to work.

I used to run 7 on my tablet pc. It only had 1 gig of ram an intel GMA 900 and a 1.5 ghz single core pentium m. To be honest it only ran about 15% slower than xp did. Vista on the other hand would be a different story. If you turn off all the fancy visual stuff in 7 you'd be surprised what it will run well on. Keep in mind, it comes pre installed on a lot of those stupid netbooks.

Some people think 7 is Vista+worse. I say that 7 is XP, only stabler, better looking, and easier. I see no performance loss on my rig compared to XP.

What does your GPU have to do with this? Unless it's PCI, which I highly doubt, it is irrelevant - and those progs that come with it live in Whoville.
