Windows 7 wont detect my other hard drives.

1. New comp up and running. I have 3 harddrives, 1 with the os, 1 for extra storage and the last one just to copy some data over (from old comp)

The second drive doesnt show up at all
The third one just says ntfs and shows no capcity and I cant access it

Ive used several hardware monitors already, and they all detect all the drives, at least their temp sensors.

Bizzarely, when my third old drive is plugged in (one of the last sata connections) it becomes default and my comp succesfully boots up on xp.

2. I have 2x 4gb 1600 mhz ram that should be 9.9.9.24 timings. my comp automatically set it at 1600 (which I was told I would have to manually change) but my timings are 11.11.11.28 if I am reading cpu-z correctly. can i change this in the bios? Thanks.

Thanks, I figured out how to format the other one. and I took ownership of my other one, but it still wont let me access it. I have tried changing it to administrator and the name im under atm (only I use this comp though)

edit: Its ok got it, if ntfs partitioned from xp apparently you have to set full control to system and users, in the exact way that my newly partioned drive was set at. bit annoyiong,

One last thing, dont want to make another thread.
task manager says nearly 40% of my phsical memory is being used.. by adding up usage in nservices I come to about 7-8%.

Can anyone explain this? It is really buggin me, there is a discrepancy of about 2.2 gig of ram!
If windows is doing somethingg with it, shouldnt it show up under processes?

in task manager, make sure you check the box that says show processes from all users.
 
couldnt see anything . It is really bothering me that I can't see what its doing.

Ok, lets get a scan to tell us whats running at bootup. please do the following.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

When the hijackthis log appears in a notepad file, click on the edit menu, click select all, then click on the edit menu again and click on copy. Come back to your reply and right click on your mouse and click on paste.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces

It should be ran in normal mode. You most likely need to right click on hijackthis and click on run as, if the option doesn't appear then press and hold the shift key while right clicking on hijackthis to get it to appear. But for right now, i really don't see anything. post the log while in normal mode and we'll see if there is any difference.
 
AH k that worked thanks. Is there any way I can always be logged on as administrator? I cant see another user to switch to.

edit: If I go into resource manager and look at working set (physical memory) It seems a to show higher numbers than task manager, I think enough to make up for the discrepancy, I guesss task manager is just inaccurate ?
