I am getting a copy of windows 7 tomorrow and for the day i have been running the beta to see if i liked it but I can't seem to be able to run anything on steam right now. I'll try to start up tf2 or something and i will get the hl2.exe is not responding error, what seems to be wrong? or will 7 just not run games?

Try turning DEP off.

Go to system information, and click advanced system settings. under the performance tab there is another tab for data execution prevention. make sure the box is checked for "enable DEP for essential windows services and programs only"

hit apply and restart your computer. it should work. if it doesn't, try running the game in compatibility modes. if one mode doesn't work, try them all one by one.
