hello does anyone have or know where i can get the windows 8 consumer preview iso inside a zip folder. i want to know this because my internet is pathetic and downloading the file on its own is going to take a very long time.

Downloading it in a ZIP is no different than downloading the ISO.

Yeah, but he wants it in a zip file so he has to download less, thereby having to wait less time to download it.

OP, it's going to be hard to find it specifically in a .zip unless you can find it on some filesharing site. You'll probably just have to wait a while and download the regular iso file.

Be careful installing it, I had a hard time getting back to my bios when I was ready to remove it, hate safe boot.

wouldnt anyone be able to zip their copy and put it on something like skydrive ? i think you can do public or private file sharing ?

So you tried it? How does it move? I am really curious if it uses less resources than windoes vista/7? . Is it worth upgrading?

Do you have a friend with a better connection? Or a cafe/restaurant with decent speed to get a download? Or even a friend or family member with a decent connection that will download and burn you the iso then mail it to you?

I don't think you will be able to save much time because most of the big files are already compressed in CAB files. that is why windows installation always expanding the file when you install. So your better bet is drive to go some internet cafe or restaurant that has free internet service.
cheers.

Then about the best you can do if there isn't anywhere close to you with a better speed would be to start the download at night and if it hasnt finished by morning, pause the download and continue it the next night. That way you dont interfere with other people in your home who will be using the computer.

Is it worth the gas and a drive to go somewhere with better internet?

Well I guess your best bet is just leave your computer running and get that download done. You are pretty much out of options.

I would search the forum and find the Windows 8 CP thread and read it first and see what we all thought before you waist your time.
