Windows 8 disk usage does not add up

Hi,

my C:/ drive on Windows 8 shows it uses 98.7gb of space, roughly half of partition.

However selecting all folders on that drive including hidden files only adds up to 60.8gb

The last time I saw this issue was on Vista. I never saw it on W7 nor W8.

What causes this and how do I get rid of this issue?

Most likely system restore usage. Besides hidden files and folders, you also have hidden operating system files.
