Windows 8 Upgrade - Will it keep my programs?

I want to upgrade my sisters laptop from Windows 7 to 8, and know that I'll be able to keep all her personal files and windows settings, but what about all of her installed programs?

Will they stay installed and continue to function or will they need to be reinstalled?

Yes, they'll still be there. I upgraded a friend's computer to 8 and all the programs work fine. Just be sure to choose "Keep files and programs" when you go through the steps of upgrading.

Make sure you enable Internet Explorer first if it is disabled, otherwise it will sometimes not migrate. This is definite if you have the beta editions, but they may have fixed it in the full release.
