Windows 8 Upgrade

So bought a new Ultrabook from Asus. Since i bought this PC at this time, i get to upgrade to windows 8 for a pretty low cost.
Now i'm just wondering if all the buttons, like using fn+F5 and fn+F6 for changing the brightness, will work after installing windows 8.

Anybody got an answer for this?

I'm pretty sure they'll still work, they're sort of just shortcuts.

Personally, I wouldn't swap to Windows 8. I think Windows 7 will remain the better OS and stay that way for a little while just like XP did.

They will still work. They emulate physical buttons. Just like the FN+page up on my M90 emulates the physical volume up button.

And it is okay to upgrade. Windows 8 is getting a bad rap now, but personally I think it will be okay. Sister is using it on her Acer laptop and she has not voiced any complaints. I will probably upgrade her to a release version in january too.

Yea! you will want to stay away from Windows 8, Microsoft has already begun working on Windows 9....Stay with Windows 7 ...Plus Windows 8 has built in spyware for Microsoft keep track of Everything you do and download..

You pay to use windows. They allow you to use it, it is not a right. They also by that can look at anything you do. If you don't like that then stop bitching about it and go program your own operating system from scratch (not using an existing kernal).

who is bitching about it, i gave an opinion just like you did, i thought this was a forum to help people, not attack them...

I am not attacking you. It sounded like you were complaining about it. Sorry. But as said, you pay for the ability to use windows. It is not a right. SO if you don't like what they are doing then build it yourself.
And you know there is a hotfix down the line to cause windows vista and 7 to do the same thing. It is a way to try and stop piracy, which will fail miserably.

Pretty much agree, stay with 7 for right now. Just because you dont like part of a OS, I dont really know why someone would tell you that you dont really have a right that you pay to use it and to build your own OS if you dont like it. What a BS comment. They need you to pay for it or they go out of business. They better hope you like it. Pretty much a noob BS comment for no reason at all other then just wanting to start a argument. Pretty lame.
