I just have paid for Windows 8 upgrade offer. I received the product key.. It is downloading now, but I don't know what version is being download either 32-bit or 64-bit. Can I use the product key for both versions. Thank you..

That depends on your windows 7 version. You ll get the same version as of the windows being upgraded. Assuming your windows 7 to be 32bit, you ll need to pay $20 more for the windows DVD. That option comes while making the payment with the upgrade assistant.

If your pc doesn't have 64bit windows then it will download 32bit windows 8, but if you are a real cheap-o-try-hard like I am you can do what I did. Find a computer with 64bit version of windows and download the upgrade on it. Then put it on a dvd and install on the pc you want to :D

Logic-defying Microsoft policies :P

In that case, it's utterly stupid for MS to not let people move to 64 from 32 straightaway.
If they are okay with users doing this, then why make it intentionally difficult for the user to do this? Not a big deal as most of us have multiple computers anyway, and perhaps at least one of them is running 64bit, but it's just a little twisted logic lol :P
Thanks for clearing it up for me Lucas, didn't know i could do that :)

I think they just forgot to add an option to be able to choose which version to use, or just left it out thinking only noobs would be upgrading to Windows 8.
