Windows 8 wont install on new build

I have a newly built pc and i have attempted to install windows 8 that I received free from my school. My computer doesnt have an optics drive so i am trying to boot the os from a usb drive. I downloaded windows 8 onto the flash drive and when i turn on my new pc with the usb as the primary boot drive the windows logo comes up, but then a small loading circle spins beneath it for a few minutes before the screen goes black.
Does anyone know what is causing this to happen? I dont know if it is a problem with my bios or something else. I downloaded windows directly from microsoft onto my usb drive so i don't think the problem is with the os. I have previously booted ubuntu directly from a usb drive on this computer but i didnt save it to the hard drive.
These are my parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1tva5
I hope someone can help, thanks

Did you use the Windows USB Install tool (you can get it from CNET) to unpack the ISO on to the USB? You cannot simply copy the contents or the ISO on the USB and expect it to work.

Yes, i downloaded windows 8 and then it gave me the option to install instantly, install to dvd, or install to usb. I chose to install to the usb so that it is ready to plug into my new pc

I plugged in an external usb hard drive and unpluged my sata hard drive and the install is working. So the hard drive appears to be at fault. What can i do to fix the hard drive? should i format it and how would i even do that

Disconnect all hard drive and other storage and download and install on a DVD/CD Dban Boot and Nuke.

Boot from it and run it. It will properly format all connected hard drives.

Then try install again.

I ran the dban and it seemed to complete but it has not solved the problem. is there another formatting method i should try

Why do you not have a DVD drive in your system? I would suggest getting one and using it to install the OS.

Do you have the USB in the USB 3.0 slot?

Ive ran into issues with windows setup when trying to install from a USB 3.0 Slot even though my USB drive is USB 3.0.
Try again installing but put it in the USB 2.0 Slot.

If the above does not apply,I suggest formatting the USB drive again...and download Rufus.
http://rufus.akeo.ie/
Then create a bootable USB using the Windows 8 ISO.

I was using the 3.0 initially but I also tried the normal usb ports and the same thing happens. After reading all these posts i went out and bought A DVD drive and the same thing happens. I tried rufus and I get it over to the computer and it tells me there is a missing operating system. I have tried messing with the settings before loading rufus onto the flashdrive but it still says missing os.

Is there any other ways to format the hard drive, Im sure if i format it properly a os will load

thanks
