ok, i was trying to fix an extra computer of my friends and it had the invalid disk error, so i took a windows 98 boot disk and copied over the system files throught SYS c: and i rebooted and it flashed the windows 98 boot screen then went to a c:> prompt, i can't remember how to fix this, any help would be appreciated

its windows 98 and i dont think its toasted because i copied the windows files over and i dont have that error, im asking about how it flashing 98 screen the give me a c prompt, want to kno how to fix that, but thanks anyways

ok, i transfer the sys files over and now when i booth the computer it goes to the windows boot logo(you kno the window flag with blue all over) but its only there for a second then it goes back to dos with a c promt but it says windows 98 second addition above the c prompt like it did start windows but then exited before it hit the graphical interface, but thats just a guess

so your like leaving the boot disk in the a: drive. well what do u expect then. its supost to say starting windows 98 and leave you at a dos prompt. im also not sure what your trying to do here.

Thats because the only OS on the machine is DOS right now. To get to the "GUI" you now have to pop the CD in and install W98. THEN it will give you your pretty GUI
