Windows and Time

I have a laptop running Windows XP SP2.

I reset my clock according to daylight savings time. After rebooting, it was back one hour to the "old" time.

So I set it forward again and went to work. I get home and guess what? It's at the wrong time again.

I have "synchronized" the clock to time.windows.com and it's still wrong. WTF?

Time and Date in the bios anyone? Besides forgetting the change being made Windows is likely resetting that according to what is seen in the first part of the bios setup. When Windows is first installed it uses what is seen there for setting the default time and date. Check to see if that is correct.

Your not the only one with that problem. I just left mine on the old time after it changed it back and this morning it seems to have corrected itself.

The automatic daylight saving time may have originally been set wrong since the time went back an hour not forward like it should have. If anything when moving it ahead an hour it should seen a second hour added to that rather then going back one. Check the month as well as the day and hour.

Also check if it is grabbing the time off the windows server and it might be downloading the time from there.

Well I got back from work today and it's still right. Hmm...

It is set to the right time zone, checked that last night.

I went ahead and unchecked the "Automatically synchronize with and internet time server" in hope it would not try to reset itself anymore. Seems like it's working.

I never even go to the server yet leave the automatic daylight savings box checked off. When the hour comes and the clock ooesn't see the hour change I have to manually set it. But the next time to worry now will be 11/2/2008 at 2am.
