Windows CD Problem

Since my computer was freezing and becoming slower, I tried to format my Service Pack 2 PC...
So I got my Windows installation CD and pressed Install Windows XP... (the one on the top)
There came up an error saying that my version was too high..
I assumed that it was because of Service Pack 2, so I uninstalled it.

After the uninstallation, I tried to format the same way...
Now whenever I press Install Windows XP, it doesn't respond.... Nothing happens..

Other options work but just the "Install Windows XP" doesn't work

Is this a computer problem or CD problem

Are there any solutions?

Thanks in advace =]

P.S: I'm a computer newb and I'm not really sure how to format c anyway... am i supposed to have a bootdisk or something?

start your computer with the cd in the drive and it should give you the option to boot from the CD... there you will be able to format your hdd as well as reinstall windows

if you don't get this option, you'll have to go into your bios and set the CD drive to boot before your C drive (or whatever drive has your os on it...

um... what's bios? and how do you set the cd drive to boot before you c drive....?

i'm really sorry, i just dont know anything about comuters..

your bios is what controls what drives boot in what order, voltage going to your CPU and expansion cards, etc.

you can get to it by pressing f2 or delete (depending what bios manufacturer/version you have) when your PC first comes on... it should tell you what to press when you first turn on your PC. it will say something like "Press F2 to Change System Settings" or something similar. from the bios you will have the options to change the order in which your drives boot. you will need to set your cd-rom drive to boot before your c drive (or which ever drive has your os on it)
