Its been a while but windows defender is not updating. Yes at work we're on proxy and IE's working,antivirus is working, hell everything is working because i put in my proxy settings. But this program doesn't have an area where you can put proxy..how do i update windows defender ?

Do you have a firewall enabled? I assume this is on Vista not XP at this point. You may have to disable a few things like the Windows and any protections to allow it to updated itself. Plus you have to administrative access.
 
everything is disable even the firewall..lol..i hate vista that much i disable the user access control stuff also..anyways what do i do since everything is disabled ?
 
That's the big question of the day there. With other tools like AVG, Ad-Aware, Spyware Terminator, and others on occasion I simply disabled WD! I tried the early release they had out for XP like the MS Antispyware tool they ahd out before that and tossed them both. Ewido was far better even until Grisoft bought that up and now has the AVG Antispyware Remover. Apparently the full features are reduced after a 30 day period unless you buy the retail version of that.
 
Well just to let you know the MS spyware/adware tools were never that good to begin with. Currently I'n still trying to download the new beta version of Ad-Aware 2007 for testing and suggestions. Spyware Terminator has a somewhat mild personal firewall in it since when it is fully active you will get prompted about everything new that tries to start up. It also catches a few more data miners then the current updated Ad-Aware even.
