Hey,

I keep getting this balloon popup basically saying "Windows Delayed Write Failed".

If I go and check the Event Log I get:

Message 1:
The device 'Maxtor 7Y250M0' (IDE\DiskMaxtor_7Y250M0__________________________YAR51HW0\3659503551454553202020202020202020202020) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.
---
Message 2:
The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout period.
---
Message 3:
The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.
---
Message 4:
{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file . The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

This has only started happening since I got a replacment hard drive from Seagate/Maxtor since my old one failed and I installed a new hard drive I bought as I was running out of space anyway.

Thanks,

Tom

Hey,

Thanks for the link. I ran the tests and it passed fine, the SMART status of the drive is fine as well.

Ill check the connections now, could it be a problem with the SATA cable itself? Perhaps its worth while trying another SATA cable.

I am not sure.. but since my PSU is only 300w and I have quite alot of components could lack of power be a problem? The reason I say I am not sure is that its only this hard drive that "fails" and none of the other components in the PC ever "fail".

I've seen this happen on network drives but not on the machines internal drive. I'd say they gave you a bad drive back but I suppose there's no harm in checking all the connections.

You can try using SeaTools to try and run diagnostics on the drive: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.j...toid=720bd20cacdec010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD

I would need to know the rest of the specs of your computer to know if the power is low but I would expect that to show up in other places first.
