Windows DVD maker

I have just discovered that my new PC running Windows 7 has a built in programme called Windows DVD Maker. This appears to recode video files into DVD format and then burns them onto a blank DVD disc. So far so good. I have tried three times now to burn a DVD. Each time it appears to recode the media file and then starts to burn the disc, However, each attempt has ended in failure with the same message being displayed - unable to burn to disc - without any further explaination. I am using the burner set at the slowest speed and using brand new DVD-+ discs.
Any ideas anyone ?

I would try a new brand of DVD's if possible. Sometimes one brand won't work, so I just swipe one from my mom, and her's work fine.
