i get this error 3-4 times a day it doesnt effect anything(that i notice) but it pops up with a yellow triangle in the taskbar icons and says system error, heres the report:


anyone know what this is?
 
That message is coming out due to a problem with a WDM(virtual) driver. The information link seen there will open a support page with explaination of what type of error it is and usually a method for correcting it.
 
It has nothing to do with a WDM error. That is a hardware error that has been generated. You should be able to find info about it in your event log. It appears to be an error that is peculiar to AMD machines. The causes are as follows:

Memory errors
inadequate cooling or the CPU overheating
system bus errors
cache errors in the processor or hardware.


That will give you a place to start.
 
what kinds of things should i do to check what it is? could a cpu be overheating without actully crashing? i beleieve i have memory errors i will run memetest again

and what are the last two in the list i dont know what these are or waht to do for them
 
A CPU can overheat and not crash. Take the P4s for instance. When they overheat they throttle down to a percentage of their full speed.

Your CPU is overclocked.. That would be the place where I would start. Back it off to default and run it for a few days. See what happens. It wouldn't surprise me if that is the culprit. That could also give you RAM errors if your RAM is overclocked. It would even explain bus and cache problems. Definitely return the CPU to stock speed first. Then test your RAM.

Let me know how you make out and we'll go from there.

set cpu to stock speeds and ran memtest and got the same error i got before but i havent seen the windows error all day the last time i saw it was yesterday before i set to stock speeds so it may have been the cpu was overheating


so can i still overclock it but down a bit? or if i get better cooling?
 
What kind of cpu temps were you seeing? The WMIxWDM points at another problem that happened while you were cooking your cpu there. Other hardwares are also effected when one item heats up. If you plan to continue OCing you would certainly want the adequate cooling setup.

OCing places heavier stresses on hardwares then seen under normal stock use. It does have a tendency to shorten the life of the OCed device itself. That's something to keep in mind there.
 
my temps were 35-42c( i didnt think that bad?)stock cooling with an exhaust fasn in the back and an intake pipe over the cpu fan i didnt really notice any other parts heating up more than normal its an overclocking motherboard so i doubt its that although it is cheap and mismatched ram if that might be it?
 
Those temps were probably the temps seen when the cpu was idle not fully loaded. Part of OCing besides raising the multiplier is an increase in voltage seen there either by intent when bringing the setting manually or simply when the cpu starts pulling more power. If the temps remained within a normal operating range the error could be pointing at another hardware as being likely. Gaming while OCing? Video card, sound card, memory, etc..
 
That certaintly rules out the cpu overheat situation. The error message still suggests a driver/resource problem rather then a failing hardware due to either a conflict or configuration need. That's why the advice to click on the link seen in the error message would help point out why it was seen.
 
Stock settings? As in the 2.5 settings in the BIOS? Or CPU defaults? If it was CPU defaults I would be tempted to suspect a faulty CPU if you already checked your RAM and it had no errors.

stock at 2.0 and yes i have checked my ram for errors and i got 1(the same one i got from an earlier boot problem possibly linked?)
