Windows Explorer Error Report...

I've just tried opening a pictures folder on my computer that I've opened numerous times before without any problems, but now I'm getting the following dialogue box up instead:

microsof_error_image.jpg

It won't let me view my folder at all now, and when I "Click here" I get another box up:

I don't know how to copy the full technical report. I've tried it about a dozen times now, but it's still not working. :(

Any help, please!

The second image there shows a problem with the ntdll.dll file that contains the NT kernel functions. That's a necessary file for both 2000 and XP alike. The error is likely from that being corrupted or now missing and needs to be replaced.

If you have the Windows installation disk for XP by the looks of the screens there you can boot upto the recovery console to manually see that expanded to the drive or simply download a fresh copy from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ntdll

Hi! Thanks for your quick reply. :) I downloaded from your link and extracted all files. This brought up Spybot Search & Destroy, which brought up two statuses as "nothing found." Was it supposed to do that? I've tried opening up the picture folder and it still doesn't work.

Spybot S&D was just doing it's job of running a normal protection process and nothing to worry about there. Since there are a large number of items that cause ntdll.dll errors to be seen both temporary and long term even due to 3rd party softwares you may want to go through the various steps in the troubleshooting guide seen at http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/ntdlldll.htm

Another tool you can add to the right click menu for various stubborn files and folders(non system related) is called Take Ownership found at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...ership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/ Work with the steps in the guide first however.
