Windows freezes

My problem is when windows finishes loading and I click on any programs or desktop icons my computer either takes a long time to load or it freezes. If I managed to get to task manager I see that the CPU usage its at 100%. The only process I see been use is the system.

I use safe mode and did system restore, scan for viruses, did registry cleaner. Don't know what else to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
start disabling stuff in your startup and rebooting until you hit the one that's causing the problem. start/run/type msconfig, goto the startup tab and uncheck one by one and reboot each time (it will take a while...) :eek:
 
Hmmm

Had the same problem. Turned out to be Avast! Antivirus. It got corrupted and was causing havoc. Reinstalling it fixed it. Is suggest you do the same. Long live MSCONFIG.
