Hey guys, I am having a problem with a new install of Windows Xp. I set the BIOS to boot from cd, it says "press any key to boot from cd", then it says that it is detecting my computers hardware and then the screen goes blank and the HDD light stays on with now cdrom led. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Try booting with minimal hardware, such as one drive, one optical drive, older graphics unit. It could be one of the 5.
1. Corrupt Windows Disc (unlikely, is it legal?)
2. Bad hardware (try running memtest)
3. Incompatable hardware (older machine)
4. Drivers need to be run at install time
5. Certain hardware must be out at install, and configured after install.
Let me know what my original suggestion turns up.

None of that helped man, and yes the copy of windows is legal. I also just built this machine like 5 months ago, so i am not sure what the problem could be. I'll keep trying. Thanks.
