Windows Installation Error - 'Could not prepare to boot next phase'

Trying to reinstall windows vista on my laptop and this has came up three times now during installation.

Windows Could not prepare the computer to boot into th next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Are you totally reformatting or just doing a repair? Is it possible that you have errors on the hard drive?

i formatted the full machine - but when I went to install the vista edition then thats what comes up.

any ideas?
