hi
im using windows xp on a dell inspiron laptop with sigmatel audio drivers installed. they are up to date. I also checked the sound options in control panel and the sounds are set to windows default. the sounds associated with logon/logoff are correct when i play them in the options but they dont work when i actually logon or logoff. i also dont get any system beeps.. does anyone have a solution to this?

hmmm.... as far as the "beeps" are concerned, check he value of following key in the register:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound\Beep
Make sure it's on...

just an idea, but I doubt this it...:o

for the beep, im not sure but that mightve worked. it was set to 'no' so i changed it to 'yes'. i dont know how to test if its working though.

anyone know how to get the logon/off sounds to work?

go to control panel and find sounds and then look for the windows sounds and make sure it is set at windows default.
