has anyone been able to burn cd-r's using windows me?? a friends was given an old hp pavilion. specs:
windows me
733mhz processor
64mb ram
30gb hard drive
cd writer

he just wants to burn cd-r's in cd-audio format. i posted this in the cd/dvd section. someone said that you can not burn cd's in windows me (or at least they couldnt). so here is the post i made earlier. anyone have any ideas for me? i need to know what software that old computer will support to burn cd's.

Of course! Why else would it come with a CD-Burner :P

Try something like DeepBurner. It's a free CD burning program that works quite well with any burner. It should do just fine for an older system. Though upgrading to a newer OS, or even 98SE would probably be a smart move. ME has its fair share of issues.

:D thats exactly what i thought when the person told me that it could not be done. why would it be there if it couldnt be used!!

but thanks for the tip. ill try to find deepburner and my older version of nero and try them out. thanks again guys.

yeah, ive heard that ME has a lot of issues. the only other os i have is windows xp pro and media center edition. would that old pc be able to support either one?

and also, he just wants to use it for music storage and cd burning...maybe internet surfing at some point. but its not like he will be doing too much with it. do you really think it would be worth upgrading the os for the basic things it will be used for??

I used to burn psx games with win95 and cdrwin back in the day, so ME is definitely capable.

I don't think it has a built in burning engine, tho.
