how do you arrange the songs so that they are sorted by artist and sub-sorted by release year rather than album title?

right click and select sort by year, then right click and select sort by artist?

That's sounds reasonable. I wished it worked...
I need to modify something within the registry, I believe.
WMP11 has the default setting to organize them by Artist then Album Title. I'd like to change that to Artist then Release Year. If I select Release Year at any point, it sorts by Release Year as its greatest priority. There's no feature that makes sorting by Artist static.
