windows media player problem

when playing music in windows media player the sound quality is very poor, as thoughthe earphones are not correctly plugged in, i am using itunes instead as the sound quality is far superior, although the short cut keys on my laptop only work with windows media player, how do i fix this bad sound quality

Have you turned the equaliser and bass managements etc in Windows Media Player options?

that sounds far too complicated, i just reinstalled it and i think it has fixed the problem though....

In that case it probably was the equaliser etc. as all that would have been reset when you reinstalled
