Hello,
Today I need help with my Windows Movie Maker and I was wondering if anyone here can help me with it. The problem is that when I go to edit a video or so it did not play my video! It is just black screen and and it only plays the sound? Here is a picture of the problem.

P.S: Dont ask me if there is anything wrong with the video because there isn't. I have edited the same video but somethings wrong with Windows Movie Maker. I tried editing more but nope there all like this!

Windows Movie Maker is such a buggy program, it loved to mess with my projects. It was like a Mac on a random timer, I never knew when it'd kick the bucket.

Like Cohen said, check what format the video is. Both Windows Media Player (WMP) and Windows Movie Maker (WMM) hate .avi even though it's a basic video format. It's possible to get a codec for WMM which is what I did, but I never did find one for WMP, instead choosing to play my .avi movie files with VLC player (like Windows Media Player except that it plays a wider range of formats and it's free).

The codec I downloaded was called ffdshow but it was such a long time ago that I can't remember what it is exactly. I'm positive that it's a program that adds a bunch of missing feautures to WMM, such as playing .avis for example. I'm imagine i to be like a patch if I remember correctly. I spent ages looking for it on the WMM forums and I tried so many different "solutions" that I can't remember what it did, only that it worked for me.

The other thing I could suggest (if the problem is with the video format at all) is to download a video converter and change the format from .avi to something else. Still waiting for the day Microsoft releases a decent version of WMM

Good luck :)

EDIT: Files in WMM also go black after you've first imported them, then moved them from their original file location. They sometimes go black, though usually get a big red cross over the top (if the memory serves well ;))
