Windows media player

On a website it wont let me play the video's on either the default player it says conecting then says ready but nothing plays . So i try and open windows media player and get this message

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")

Any one please help ?
