Windows Messenger not working

well ive got yet another problem....
i use messenger all the time but it wont work anymore, it says
Sorry were unable to log you on blah blah blah
Messenger has failed several time please check your firewall
Error Code 80048820

ive checked my security center firewall no problems there, ive tried several log on accounts so itn not wrong pass and user

could it be a router firewall or something if so how do i check or what else could be casuing this problem

Sorry i cant be much help as i dont use windows messenger much, but to get into the firewall settings im pretty sure you have to; right-click on your internet connection in 'network connections' and select properties, then the advanced tab, and then click on the settings button.
