Windows Mobile 6.5

So I have had my HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 for sometime now. I had originally bought the phone because the hardware was impressive, good screen, 5.0 mega pixel camera and the 1 GHz snap dragon cpu. The only thing that sucks is the OS. I didn't think it would really matter but the phone is crap because of it.

It crashes more in a month then when I ran Vista without SP1 for a year. The Windows app are complete garabage like WMP, MS office and outlook. I just do not understand how MS planned to compete with such a product. There app store is a joke, it has a fraction of the apps as andriod and apple, and when you read the reviews for the apps a portion of them are glitchy or just don't work. Some say wait for Windows Mobile 7, but I do not think I would ever trust another MS mobile product again.

I wrote this to see people's input and opinions of Windows Mobile, and to warn anyone who might be thinking of buying a smart phone of the OS they should reconsider. I guess I should have trusted in a mobile linux OS like andriod.

On a plus they are working on a hack to install andriod on the HD2 which I am excited for, the ones they have tested looks to be promising.

have you looked into xda-developers.com it has many custom roms that make it much better

They are one of the ones working on the hack, the only issue I have with there andriod hack they are working on is it is a dual boot with ubuntu. Do not get me wrong, I like ubuntu but it is a little to big of a OS for a mobile phone if you ask me.

I have his exact rom for TP2 (he makes it for both devices)
Its really well made, Only problem Ive ever run into is with the HTC messaging slowing the device down but if you get it without it (which he has a version without it) it will run like dream.

Yeah, you prob have not "unlocked it" yet.
Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477 it tells you how to unlock your device. Be warned that it does void your warranty but its worth in IMHO

Also READ over the whole thread and go step by step. Its hard to mess up but it goes very smoothly if you go step by step

Thanks for everything, I will not be able to it for the fact my windows machine is at home. I am currently on deployment in the Navy and the only thing I have with me is the laptop listed in my signature witch runs Ubuntu. Looks like I need windows to do it.

Going to save the links so when I get home I will give it a shot. Don't care about the warrenty and it looks cool enough to try. Thanks again.

No problem. I know I was in the same spot you were in, I hated the default ROM that ships with it, so much crap is loaded on in. all the "cooks" on the forum have great roms. Try around with others and you will fall in love with your phone all over again .
