OK, I have 15 videos/movies on my Youtube account which I produced using 'Windows 7, and windows movie maker!.
I download clips from other youtube vids and save to my computer in WMV format as I always do...
For some reason my latest is working well in WMM,.. but when I play it in WMP it only shows half the screen,..if you can imagin a square tank of water HALF FULL and the water is the vid.
I prefer Windows Movie Maker as apposed to 'Windows Live Movie Maker!..thing is, it works great in the latter...grrrr...can anyone help please.?

What are you using to download the clips ?

You may want to try a better media player wmp is pretty poor, one of the most popular free media players is vlc.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Its called 'download You Tube Videos as mp4 1.6.4' which allows me to click on a 'Download' link on the you tube movie/vid that i want... maybe it is the problem, cos I never used it befor on my other vids,.. so how can I d/load a vid/movie from you tube with a WMV format?.. you tube used to let me download stuff,.. but I cant find a d/load button now... is vlc compatible with my computer etc.?

There are lots of youtube download programs none i tried were any good, try using realplayer it has a video downloader built in that works on all videos not just youtube, once installed any video playing in your browser will havea downlaod this video button in the top right corner, just click it and it will download to your videos folder or if you wish you can specify a download location when installing realplayer.

Realplayer also has other feature like media player, trimmer, converter, although i do not use any of these, i only use it for the easy download feature.

is it only downloaded youtube videos that have small video problem, i am trying to confirm where the problem is, in the youtube download or movie maker.

Do you have any of your own original video files ?

hi James... been doing some trial stuff, and did a mock vid using the same setup same audio track, and imported a vid of my partner when in cuba.. 2min one.. it worked fine... so added a clip off you tube in front of it, and it halved her movie clip as before... thing is, when i do one in win live m m .. it seems ok..? thought it might have been a you tube down load problem,.. but my own camera movie was taken by myself... it worked..then it didnt...

The only thing different I did was to take the audio track into 'Audacity' to cut and paste the beginning of my audio track, to make the intro longer.....that way I had time to edit some titles and credits befor the vocals came in.

The audio should not really affect the video size, are you using the most up to date version of windows movie maker ?

I am using 'Windows Movie Maker 2.6' which I think is better than 'Windows Live Movie Maker' .. you can't merge your files one into the other in the latter because there is no 'Time Line',.. and no drag when you need to shorten files.. it's a pain..lol ..what do ya think James..?

Well try the new windows movie maker 2012, just select whatever os you are using.

James,.. yes, I tried that, got the wlsetup.exe,.. but that just gave me Windows Live Movie Maker... cant seem to get an up-to date WMM,.. they are different, as you know,.. I even tried uninstaling and re-installing my WMM... just did the same...
I downloaded that link you gave me the other day,.. and got WLMM plus a load of crap ie. ms sky drive and some other crap..also changed my google home page.. had a load of uninstalling to do..when I opened the mm it was WLMM which I already have.. Just cant understand why this is just started to happen.. if you come up with any sort of stuff to try.. let me know PLEASEEEE... thanx

Yes James,..it will play because I did it in Windows Live MM, not Windows Movie Maker,... I think possibly the later is for Windows xp and Vista... don't think it is compatible for 7
another thing,..I had to search for this thread,..for some reason couldnt find it in its normal place... bloody computers..drive ya mad... thanx james... get back to me if you find anything out.

I installed the old 2.6 movie maker last night and made a quick slideshow, i think the problem you may be having relates to the size of the photos you are using to make the slideshow.

The higher resolution photo the bigger your slideshow video will turn out when it is finished.

What resolution where the original jpegs etc that you started with ?
