windows not logging in

hi im sorry if im in the wrong place but my friend is running windows xp home and when booting up it goes as far as account log in. then it comes up with lsass exe error theme 32 cannot be found. any ideas anyone?
 
Either you are infected or you need to repair the insallation of windows. Can you boot into safe mode?
 
have a sys recovery disk which didnt do anything. tried it in my friends computer and it registers blank. apparently according to acer all the files i need are on the machine and i should get a blank cd and make a boot disk. All good advice apart from the tiny fact they dont seem to understand that i cant actually get onto the machine.
