Windows photo viewer shows black square

Hello,
Windows photo viewer displays a black square when you click the photo to be full screen. It did also do this with the thumbnails but only on a SD card. I have tried other software's but I move along of photos around and find that it has the best layout and I am use to it now.
I have updated all of the windows updates, the graphics driver but no good. They work fine on other programs so the photos are not corrupted.

Its possible that the file size is bigger than the program can handle. I believe I have came across this before.

No i dont think so because some 6.5mb ones are showing but 5mb ones are not it is also showing the thumbnails to be mostly black squares as well. I think it might be something to do with the quality as on the thumbnails it will show a pixelated version but will then enhance them and that is when some turn black but not in any order. eg this photos thumbnail and full screen work at 4608x3456 6.65mb, but 4608x3456 5.48mb will not work full screen or thumbnail. It tends to select random ones every time i turn the computer on then off again.
Update the thumbnails work if you are zoomed out to the smallest size although they are hard to see.
