Windows playing up

Hello all,

Everytime I switch one my pc and choose to startup windows XP Student Edition. After a while, it freezes! I can't move the mouse, once I cant do that i press enter or esc on the keyboard and it makes one "beep" sound and thats it, nothing else happens. I restart computer and use it for a while again, sometimes it doesn't freeze and sometimes it does! I think it usualy freezes up when i do things that are demanding like burning on nero.

I have run virus tests etc using AVG. Sometimes it freezes during this but i have deleted something called "installer.exe" since it was shown up as a threat. I though this would solve problem but it didn't!

Anyone know what else i can do or what is wrong with Windows?

Thanks all, Appreciate any help! :)

Sounds like your windows is messed up and cant start:confused:

Do you have the Xp cd so you can do a repair install?

yeah i have the CD. But what is there to repair? Everything works fine it just freezes for no reason? I did a system health check online using pcpitstop and symantech and everything is in workind order!!! No corrupt files and no viruses so what can it be!!! But i will give the repair intsall a go!

What else can it be do you think?

Thanks for reply:)

It has to be Windows, try running CCleaner

Completed CCleaner and it got rid of 3, 600mb!!! eeehhh is that normal! So i had 3GB of crap laying around! I doubt this will solve problem but hopefully it will!

Anything else that i can run or do to solve problem?

if you never clean-up your comp, that is normal...
the first time i ran CCleaner, it got rid of 2GB worth of rubbish
your comp should be better now and faster too... Hopefully... :D
