Hi all,
I have problems with my windows and microsoft application recently on my laptop. Im using my company laptop Dell D630 with SP2 XP Windows.

Last week, during my training, I suddenly unable to open the excel files. The pop-out message said that 'There is no more files'. Then I tried to run Excel directly, same message appears. Then i run Words and Powerpoint but also unable to run. I restarted few times but after restarting lots of my system32 files unable to be run automatically. I can open any excel or words file or even the notepad. Worst is, I also unable to check my computer properties (right click on my computer > properties).

Seems like my system files are missing. But, after I perform scandisk, all the things are back to normal (scandisk and repair bad sector). The next day, same thing happened until tonite i just finished scandisk and now able to run all the things perfectly. Anyone aware bout this situation? Please, I need help....:(

Are you running a legitimate copy of Office or one that you downloaded?

Additionally, take a look at this thread and follow the instructions.

Im using a legal registered Office and Windows. Some of other application on my desktop also cannot be run properly except for my company's application. Do u think it is because of malware? As i said before, after I do scandisk, all things are back to normal, and now Im afraid to shut down my laptop ( I just hibernate it) cos i have the feeling that it will happen again when i restart....

Anyway, I will run Hijackthis and post the log here.

Thanks,
